Water Bottle Neck Finishes Compared: 29/25, 48 mm & 55 mm

By , PET preform and closure manufacturer, Egypt · Updated

For still water, the neck finish is the first fork in the road: it sets the cap, the closure cost and the filling line — so it pays to match it to your format up front.

The three water necks

29/25 is the single-serve water standard (light, low-cost cap). 48 mm suits large-format and sports formats. 55 mm is the 5-gallon / 19 L returnable. Each pairs with a specific closure and weight band.

Lighter is possible

Neck weight is fixed by the finish, but Delta offers lightweight variants on some water SKUs — small per-unit grams that compound across millions of bottles.
