Water-Season Demand Planning: Lock Preform Supply Before Summer

Bottled-water demand is sharply seasonal: the summer peak can be several times the winter baseline, and every bottler in the region reaches for preforms at the same moment. The bottlers who do not run short are the ones who locked supply before the season — not during it.

Forecast the peak, not the average

Size your preform requirement against the peak-week run rate plus safety stock — not the annual average. Under-forecasting the peak is the most common cause of a mid-summer scramble.

Lock capacity early

Preform capacity across the industry tightens before summer. Confirming volume and neck — typically 29/25 for still water, plus large-format 48 / 55 mm for 5-gallon — well ahead secures your slot and protects your line.

Use call-off orders

A blanket order with scheduled call-offs lets you lock price and capacity now while taking delivery in waves — smoothing both cash flow and warehouse space through the peak.

Right-weight before you scale

Lightweighting decisions are cheapest to make before a big seasonal run, not during it. Lock the weight and neck early so the volume order is the optimised pack, not last year’s.

Get ahead of the season

Confirm your water SKU and weight in the Product Finder, check the weight guide for the lightest safe option, and place a blanket / call-off RFQ early in the Smart RFQ Builder. Delta El Nile for Industry holds 88,660 MT/year of capacity with headroom for seasonal ramps.
